Getting Started

This guide will help you through the process of setting up your pc so that you can download, read and listen to ebooks in Microsoft Reader format. Follow this text carefully and when you are asked to, click your mouse on the required step to the left of this page and a pop up window will appear. Complete the task, then close the window and carry on working your way down this page.

An introduction to ebooks - in the window that appears you will find all the information required to understand what ebooks are all about - this will also help you understand the rest of the setup process.
Select Step 1 now.

Ok, so you have a rough idea about ebooks and would like to find out more. Well the best way is to download a book and check it out for yourself, but first there are a few essentials like installing the necessary software.

At this stage we would ask you to sign-up to Bookselecta or just log-on if you have already done so. Signing up to Bookselecta costs nothing and your details are confidential, we will not pass them on to anybody else!
It is very important that you give a valid e-mail address; we will need to contact you! For instance when you buy an ebook from Bookselecta we will send you an e-mail confirming your purchase and giving a download url - although downloads proceed automatically you may lose your Internet link before it is complete - the url supplied allows you to begin the download again.
Select Step 2 now to sign up or Step 3 to log-on if you have already done so.

Thank you. Now its time to begin setting up your PC by installing MS Reader FREE from Microsoft. You may install Reader on as many machines as you like.
Select Step 4 now to visit the Microsoft website where you can select the right version of MS Reader for your machine. Most people prefer to download and save programs to their hard drive. If you have done so you will need to install it, in the same way as any other software you buy, either click on the MSReader.exe file or use the run option on your START bar (You will have to locate the MSReader.exe file with the Browse option or type in its name & location).

Ok. MS Reader is now installed and active, it will have opened on your desktop when installation was complete. MS Reader contains many features such as allowing you to select the clearest text for your vision. We recommend that you take your time exploring Reader before using it in earnest but one of the features available is the PLAY function which allows you to listen to an ebook instead of reading it - if you want this feature you will need to install Microsoft's Text to Speech software, also FREE.
Select Step 5 to download TTS software. Then install it in the same way as you did with MSReader.

Lets check everything is working -
Select Step 6 and you will download a FREE ebook from us.
